Fabric and textiles are all around us. We wear them and decorate our homes with them. But have you ever tried to make something from yarn or thread? People have created many processes using threads and yarns to make things like fabrics. These processes are called fiber arts.

Fiber arts use fibers to create a whole object, like a rug or item of clothing. Fibers come from natural sources like cotton, silk, and wool. They can also be synthetic, or man-made fibers, like acrylic and polyester. Because these processes often result in a fabric or textile, fiber arts are also known as textile arts.
